AssistMed
Deploys VoiceVault Voice Authentication for Controlling Access to
Dictation Systems
London and Los Angeles, 29 November 2007 - VoiceVault and
AssistMed announced today that VoiceVault Caller Authentication has been
implemented to secure access to AssistMed's DictAide dictation and
transcription platform.
Physicians
and other healthcare professionals need only speak a few words to
enable a "voiceprint", thereby validating their identity. This makes the service
easier and more convenient to use, while further enhancing the
security and the confidentiality of the medical records held on the
system.
The agreement, which was signed earlier in the year, also saw DictAide
successfully migrate onto VoiceVault's IVR and telecommunications
infrastructure. This highly scalable platform, already used by financial
institutions and government agencies in both the US and Europe, will enable
AssistMed to meet the rapid growth in demand for the DictAide system.
"DictAide is a powerful and practical example of how speech technologies and,
in particular, speech recognition and voice verification can improve the
efficiency of a critical workflow," said David Chislett, CEO of VoiceVault.
"We're delighted to be working with AssistMed as they have a track record of
delivering innovative and ground breaking technologies that are having a real
impact on the US healthcare industry. This will be the first time in the world
that voice biometrics is used to secure access to clinical records."
Leonardo Berezovsky, MD, Chairman and CEO of AssistMed, said: "DictAide has
become extremely popular with medical practitioners. We believe the partnership
with VoiceVault will enable us to support the rapid growth in service usage,
while simultaneously enabling us to make a pioneering move into voice
biometrics for the healthcare industry. This powerful technology from
VoiceVault will further enhance our physician-friendly, feature-rich clinical
documentation solution, which includes advanced speech-recognition to
dramatically improve transcription productivity, enabling us to continually
reduce the price for our clients. We are also introducing our natural language
processing engine, which can extract clinical facts from free text and convert
them to codes. With our incorporation of VoiceVault technology, we have
effected one more degree of separation of AssistMed from other suppliers of
dictation and transcription solutions."
"The introduction of voice biometrics into the healthcare market is very
encouraging news. Enhanced convenience and security of clinical data management
will provide a strong business case for wider deployment in the healthcare
industry" said Imran F Khan, Biometrics Research Analyst at Frost and Sullivan.
